Definition

rdf:type is an instance of rdf:Property that is used to state that a resource is an instance of a class.

The rdfs:domain of rdf:type is rdfs:Resource. The rdfs:range of rdf:type is rdfs:Class.

Any individuals that occur in the ontology should have at least one type specified, i.e. for an individual I, there should be a triple:

I  rdf:type  C

where C is an owl:Class (or rdfs:Class) or owl:Restriction and I is an instance of C.
