2008-04-01 CETI Award for ADI Project

On April 1, at the annual CETI Award Gala in New Orleans, FIATECH recognized and honored 24 organizations and individuals for their work in innovative engineering and construction technologies. FIATECH established the CETI Award--Celebration of Engineering & Technology Innovation in 2006 to recognize significant achievements in new and emerging technology research, development, deployment and implementation throughout the life cycle of a capital project.

Bechtel, Fluor, Bentley Systems & NRX Global - Accelerating the Deployment of ISO 15926

ISO 15926 is a suite of standards that supports interoperability for data about the equipment and systems used in industrial processes, over the lifecycle of those objects. Some typical scenarios for the use of ISO 15926 are: sharing information between engineering contractors and their subcontractors, acquiring information from equipment vendors, handing over data to the operators of a new industrial plant and harmonizing the information across an enterprise that owns many plants.

2008-03-31 Hans Teijgeler ended his authorship of ISO 15926-7

After 16 years of heavy involvement in ISO 10303-221 and later in ISO 15926, Hans gave up his authorship of ISO 15926-7 (NOT of this website!). Onno Paap, of Fluor Corp., is the author from now on.

2008-03-12 Update of this website finished

The update of this website, in order to bring it in line with ISO 15926-7 as it has been sent to ISO for ballot, was finished.

2008-02-16 Update of this website started

The finalization of ISO TS 15926-7 gave rise to some changes in this website. The update process started today.

2008-02-15 ISO TS 15926-7 sent to ISO for ballot

The Technical Specification version of ISO 15926-7 has been sent to ISO for ballot. The delay was caused by an additional requirement from ISO. We now had to include the entire OWL version of the ISO 15926-2 data model and an initial set of Template Specifications and the Ontology for Templates.

2007-09-24 Update of this site completed

The update to reflect the style of ISO 15926-7, as sent to ISO for ballot, has been completed.

2007-09-18 - ISO CD-TS 15926-7, including Test Methods document, sent to ISO for re-ballot

Both documents were sent today to Gerry Radack, the convener of ISO/TC184/SC4/WG3, for his final check. It is the plan to send the documents to the standardization bodies of the member nations on or before Oct. 6th next. These nations are (the acronym of the standardization body between brackets): Australia (SA) , Austria (ON), Brazil (ABNT), Bulgaria (BDS), China (SAC), Czech Republic (CNI), France (AFNOR), Germany (DIN), Italy (UNI), Japan (JISC), Korea, Republic of (KATS), Netherlands (NEN), Norway (SN), Portugal (IPQ), Russian Federation (GOST R), South Africa (SABS), Spain (AENOR), Sweden (SIS), Switzerland (SNV), United Kingdom (BSI), and USA (ANSI, secretariat).

An ISO Technical Specification (ISO/TS) represents an agreement between the members of a technical committee and is accepted for publication if it is approved by 2/3 of the members of the committee casting a vote.  An ISO/TS is reviewed every three years with a view to deciding whether it can be transformed into an International Standard. These three years will be used to achieve full implementation, allowing for a thorough test in real life.

2007-09-09 - Test Methods document required by SC4

Out of the blue came a reminder from SC4 that, next to Part 7, we also need to produce a document with test methods. It is an interesting challenge, because it is terra incognita, in that the test methods for ISO 10303 APs are of a totally different nature. But so far so good.

We have designed a test stand like shown in the diagram below:

The tests described in this test document entail a subsequent feeding of the IUT (Implementation Under Test) with pre-defined transfer files, in the format defined in ISO 15926-7, followed by invocation of certain pre-defined API methods. After each feed and method invocation the required state of the data in the involved façade(s) shall be checked. This required state is defined for each procedure step.

2007-08-28 - Update of this website

In the coming weeks this website will be updated to reflect the latest developments in ISO 15926-4 and -7. Like always, you will be properly notified about any changes/additions.

2007-08-22 - ISO CD-TS 15926-7 being prepared for re-ballot

After the first ballot of Part 7, in 2005, we had to change horses regarding the chosen technology. We started with XML Schema, because at the time there was nothing else. But XML Schema was not suitable for what we intended to do. Since the RDF + OWL suite of W3C Recommendations had become available, we decided to convert Part 7. Conceptually there was no change, technically it was a large improvement to use RDF and OWL.

Due to the rules and regulations of ISO we were asked to issue Part 7 for a re-ballot, so again for CD (Committee Draft) - TS (Technical Specification). The due date is August 30th, so Onno and myself, with the help from participants in the ADI Project, are working hard to finalize the last details.
